Up Next – Illinois Wesleyan

Are we tough, or are we soft? This has been the question the coach has been drilling into our heads during the matches. We need to be tough and always fight for every point, game, set, and match. We are currently at 5-2 and have been fighting hard for every point. We have had hard fought battles against Elmhurst College, Augustana College, and Oberlin College. We only came out on top against Oberlin and we are learning from our losses so that it doesn’t happen again in our close matches. We are expecting another battle tonight as we square off against Illinois Wesleyan who beat us 6-3 a year ago. We hope to battle hard, be tough, and earn a victory.
Our team is a very close knit group and our chemistry is at an all time high. We have had much success on the court and off the court. On the court Ian Leonard has yet to lose in the spring season at #4 singles going a perfect 7-0. Daniel Delgado has also been impressive out of the gate only dropping a match at #2 singles going 6-1. The #3 doubles team, Ian Leonard and Evan Bayless, have only dropped 1 match while the #2 doubles team, Nate Koelper and Daniel Delgado, have only dropped 2 matches.
Off the court seniors Evan Bayless and Peter Gunderman found out that they had passed the comprehensive exams with Pete earning distinction in chemistry. In other news off the court the tennis team has been hosting the fall clinic every Sunday of February to earn money for the trip to California in under 2 weeks, and also Evan, Daniel, and myself helped with the Special Olympics basketball practice this past Sunday. It was enjoyable helping them during practice and play basketball with them. Also, coach has sent in requests for Conan O’Brien tickets while we are in L.A. We could use all the help we can to get his attention, so if you have a twitter account you should tweet @ConanOBrien about the Wabash College tennis team.
