The Little Giants tennis team is back to Crawfordsville and working harder than ever. There have been two practices thus far and our bodies can tell. It has been difficult to walk upstairs, sit down, and do basic everyday things. As you can tell practices have been tough, but we continue to push ourselves as hard as we can so we can improve our game and reach team goals like beating a nationally ranked opponent and placing better than 3rd in conference when another tough opponent in Depauw has joined.
Coach has adjusted his philosophy. In years past we have played very well and he has been satisfied to compete against those ranked teams, but there truly is no reason why we can’t beat them. This year we aren’t going to take those losses lightly, we fully expect to win those matches. The motto for the season is MORE. This motto comes from the song More by Usher. “I can feel it, I’m a beast, I’m an animal, I’m that monster in the mirror, The headliner, finisher, I’m the closer, winner. Best when under pressure with second’s left I show up.” This lyric is just one in the song in which shows us we need to be tenacious and play big. It gets us pumped up and ready for action to take down the so called power teams in Kenyon, Denison, and Depauw.
With wanting to do MORE and push ourselves we have Wednesdays off from practice so we can practice hard on Saturdays and Sundays twice a day and for longer periods until matches begin. The enthusiasm and effort so far in practice has had some consequences on our bodies and in the long run will pay off greatly for us. As the season goes on we will continue to push hard and improve and we plan to make things happen not only in our conference or region, but nationally.
