Ritornando a Roma. Is that how you say it? I’ve almost completely forgotten the pitifully little Italian I picked up last semester. No matter, because when you’re traveling with Wabash guys on an immersion trip, you’re expected to make yourself look like a bumbling idiot while speaking to locals.
And despite having spent a semester in Rome, I have no doubt I’ll have a new and engaging experience this time around. There is no substitute for traveling with Wabash guys. Immersion trips, no matter where to, are fantastic opportunities for fun, shenanigans, bonding, and of course learning.
Dr. Hartnett seems to be putting my experience in Italy to good use. In lieu of a Public Affairs staff, I’ll be taking pictures and organizing the blogs. And, undoubtedly, leading Wabash students on late night excursions…for gelato.
We’re flying out tomorrow afternoon, and though I’m excited, I’m hardly nervous. After all my globe-trotting last semester, and especially the final return leg of my trip, a simple jaunt across the Atlantic is nothing.
This time, I promise to come back with more souvenirs.
