The swim team and I are now sitting in our hotel getting ready to warm up before tomorrow’s festivities. Tonight will be our chance to rest up, “shave” down, and get pumped for tomorrow morning. While all of us are going to come back a few days behind in class, that will be in the back of my mind this week and weekend as we continue our push forward against some of the best teams in the nation. This should be a good one!
Sort of on the subject of swimming, for those of you who have not heard of the “Harlem Shake” by Baauer, it is one these weird Youtube sensations that cannot be described in words, much like the Gangnam Style video. You can only watch it. One of my friends from high school, Doug Reynolds, who now swims on the UGA swim team, posted the UGA Men’s Swimming rendition of the “Harlem Shake.” He is on the left at the very beginning of the video, staring viciously at the camera. Again, you can only watch it to understand it, but even then you may not understand it. This video has just been posted two days ago and already has up to 2 million views; it has also been shown on Good Morning America, the Atlanta Journal Constitution, and numerous other blogs. It is pretty hilarious the publicity these videos have gotten, and I would not be surprised if the sensation died as quickly as it started.
But right now, here is to swimming fast and getting things done. Wabash Always Fights!
