Friday, June 7
1 p.m – Van leaves from front of Wabash College Chapel for anyone departing from Crawfordsville.
** Fred Siegel, Carol Dennes, Rhoades, Hewitt & Newhart.
5:10 p.m. – Depart Chicago’s O’Hare Airport via Air France #0667 for Paris.
Saturday, June 8
8:20 a.m.. Arrival at Charles De Gaulle Airport
** Meet up with Koliseks at airport; they join our flight to Montpellier.
1:20 p.m. flight to Montpellier, Air France #7680; Arrival at 2:40 p.m.; Bus to hotel. Check in at Mercure Antigone.
4:30 p.m. or TBA – Optional walk to Place de Comedie; explore briefly on your own or just to see the historic city center (5-10 minutes from hotel). On the way to the Comedie, we’ll pass the Galleries Lafayette – a large shopping mall for any of those items you may have forgotten!
7:15 p.m. – Meet in Mercure Hotel Lobby to walk to dinner.
** Wedgeworths meet us at Mercure
8 p.m. – Group Welcome Dinner to Montpellier and Languedoc; Le Petit Jardin in Montpellier’s historic city center. French winemaker and négocient Jacques Frelin and his wife will welcome us to the Languedoc!
10-10:30 p.m. – Return to hotel via Montpellier’s Arch de Triumphe – should be spectacular at night! (just a couple of blocks from restaurant.)
Sunday, June 9
8:00 a.m. – Optional morning walk to Place de Comedie. This will be a brisk morning walk – nothing formal. Stay in bed or join us! Get that morning sunshine to reset the body clocks!
9:00 a.m. – Optional – meet in lobby for short walk to the weekly Montpellier Market. Bread, cheese, meats, crafts – great way to have a really inexpensive meal – especially Sunday night when only a handful of restaurants are open!
10:30 a.m. – Board bus to visit Domaine Virgile Joly in Saint-Saturnin-de-Lucian. Lunch at La Pressoir. (About a 45-minute drive)
3:30 p.m. (approximately) tour the Gardens, historic Chateau, taste the wines of Chateau de Flaugerues on the outskirts of Montpellier. We might even get to meet the Count!
5:30 p.m. – Arrive back at hotel; free evening.
Monday, June 10
9:00 a.m. – Depart for Narbonne! (just over an hour drive)
10:00 a.m. – .Visit and tour Narbonne Covered Market.
11:00 a.m. – Leave for Chateau le Bouis, small bites and wine tasting overlooking the Mediterranean
1:30 p.m. – Depart for Gerard Bertrand’s Chateau L’Hospitalet. One of Southern France’s biggest and most honored wineries. We’ll have a fun tasting lesson, walk the vineyard with views of the Sea. The Chateau has several small shops featuring local artists.
4 p.m. – Visit Domaine de la Jasse – taste great Cabernet under the Dome!.
6 p.m. – Return to hotel; Free Evening.
Tuesday, June 11
9:00 a.m. – Board bus for trip to World Heritage site and one of world’s best-preserved walled cities, Carcasonne. (Approximately a 1.5-hour drive)
11:00 a. m. – Guided 1.5-hour tour. Two hours follow on your own to explore the ancient city.
2:45 p.m. – Depart Carcassonne
3 p.m. – Tasting at O’Vineyards. Great story of a Florida family who picked up everything and moved to France to start a winery. We’ll barrel taste wines and enjoy Liz’s hors d’oeuvres. (Just 10-15 minutes from Carcassonne)
6-6:30 p.m. – Arrive back at hotel; Free Evening.
Wednesday, June 12
8:15 a.m. – Leave hotel for Train Station – arrangements will be announced.
9:26 a. m. – Return to Paris via ATG hi-speed rail, St-Roch Station, Montpellier
12:45 p.m., Arrive at Paris Gare Lyon station; cabs to hotel.
1:30 p.m. - Check in hotel – Novotel Paris Les Halles.
3 p.m. or TBA – Michelle will lead us on a walk around the city center.
7:45 p.m. – Leave Novotel, Metro to Eiffel Tower
9:20 p.m. –Dinner Cruise on Le Capitaine Fracasse
Thursday, June 13
9:00 a.m. – Day Trip to Versailles, visit the famed grounds and palace.
Return to Hotel mid to late afternoon with rest of the day free
Friday, June 14
9 a.m. – Visit Musee d’Orsay – This Paris icon has undergone recent changes. We’ll plan on spending a couple of hours there. Afterwards, Professor Rhoades will lead us to interesting parts of the city where you’ll find is interesting shopping and sites! The afternoon and evening will largely be yours!
Saturday, June 15
8:30 a.m. – Morning half-day trip to Giverny, France. Tour the Gardens and House of Claude Monet; visit the Musee des impressionnismes Giverny.
12:30 pm. – Lunch at Equisse Gourmand, Giverny
Mid-Afternoon – Return to Paris. Free rest of day. A few optional outings may be organized for those interested. Wine tasting? Chocolate tour? Shop till you drop?
Sunday, June 16
9:30 a.m. – A trip to the Sunday Morning Market. We’ll break up as a group by noon and the remainder of your day is free in Paris!
Monday, June 17
9:30 a.m. – Taxi pick-up for transfer to Charles de Gaulle Airport for those traveling as group back to Chicago.
1:30 p.m. – Air France Paris to Chicago AF 0490; Arrive in Chicago- 3:30 p.m.
4:30 p.m. – Van transportation for Crawfordsville group back to the Chapel
