John Ryder ’71 named RNC General Counsel

The Republican National Committee has announced the appointment of John Ryder ’71 as the new RNC General Counsel.  John has been active with the RNC since 1996, including as Tennessee national committeeman, redistricting committee, presidential nominating committee, delegate to the national convention, and he currently serves on the Rules Committee.  Click here to read the press release.

After Wabash, John earned his JD from Vanderbilt University.  He is a member of the law firm Harris, Shelton, Hanover & Walsh in Memphis.. He is a past Chairman of the Board of Opera Memphis, a member of the Economic Club of Memphis and a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church. Previously, Ryder was the co-chairman of the Southern Region and director of the Southern Republican Leadership Conference. He is vice President for Judicial Affairs for the Republican National Lawyers Association and serves as Senior Advisor to the Memphis Lawyers Chapter of the Federalist Society.
