Spanning the Globe in Search of Little Giants

Linda Weaver - International recruiting is very important to the Admissions Office. Each year we bring young men from countries around the world to our Wabash campus. These young men are the cream of the crop. They are writers, artists, musicians, athletes, scientists, historians and so much more.

Barry Ooi is a sophomore from Malaysia. He worked as a student caller in admissions during the spring semester of his freshman year. Barry saw first hand how important it is to get our Wabash name out in front of recruits.

During Barry’s summer vacation he saw an opportunity to represent Wabash at a Discover U.S. Education College Fair in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. On July 22nd Barry set up his Wabash booth right next to Mount Holyoke College. Barry decorated his booth with Wabash publications, hung a few t-shirts, and did his best to answer questions about Wabash. The event had over 10,000 attendees, and Barry was able to gather information on several good recruits for us.

Students like Barry make the difference in bringing in our class. Barry is “Some Little Giant”.
